Radio Heard Here

Radio-Logo-1
Wink was hired by Work Labs to create a memorable logo to be used in all advertising for the radio industry with the phrase "Radio Heard Here". Much like the milk industry has "Got Milk", the radio industry needed it's own catch phrase and branding.

Talking Sh*t!

ADAI2

Iowa has seen its fair share of speeches lately, but now that the caucuses are over and the politicians have cleared out (at least until the general election hits full swing) Wink is rushing with our very own brand of private sector "BS." We'll be giving an encore presentation to the Art Directors Association of Iowa on January 17th, 2008 at the Meredith Conference Core. So those of you who live in, or around, the Des Moines area feel free to stop in around 5:30pm for the social gathering and stay for the talk which begins around 6:30pm. Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and even antidisestablishmenttarianists are all welcome. The dress is casual, but boots are strongly recommended.

Target Reusable Shopping Bag

Reusable Bag illo
"Paper or plastic?" They’ll ask. "Neither thanks. I’ve brought my own." You’ll say. Now you can go "green" while you carry Target red with these durable and reusable fabric bags. Wink designed various ideas, concept graphics and illustrations as part of an environmental initiative with the Target Corporation. The bags began launching in California stores this June and you can get them in two sizes; a small self-zippered version and a large version. They both feature the Wink Target Tree bullseye illustration.
**Update. Some recent
press, it's popping up on blogs across the world wide web.

Daub & Bauble

D&B_Dish
As seen on your favorite blogs (designsponge, little birdy b, and decor8) and now in our favorite design magazine, Communication Arts. it's our latest branding, product design, and packaging effort Daub and Bauble. Wink's challenge was to create a new brand soup to nuts (name, logo, identity, packaging system, point-of-sale, brochure, and promotional materials) for a startup line of home and hygiene products. But before we could begin, we needed to find a point-of-difference that would distinguish the product line among the, literally, hundreds (possibly thousands) of other hand soaps, lotions, and dish detergents that have oversaturated the market. The answer... "edition packaging" in which with every reprint of the labels a new pattern set is introduced. The result was a 3 limited edition patterns for 3 products with 3 fragrances. To see all 27 bottles in the D&B library click here.

Despite, having only launched a few short months ago, they've been so well received that D&B and Wink are already collaborating on product extensions and the next wave of pattern editions!

Wink & Macy's

Macy's asked Wink to help brand, design and create the overall look for the Macy's Impulse shoe area within their stores. The graphic tone of the identity was applied to the back walls, the entrance to the dressing rooms, the tabletops and even the circular shoe displays. Check out the feature in Communication Arts.

Wink & AIGA SD

Wink is going to South Dakota to speak and we typically don't do many of these events. So, if you are in the area, come hear how a native dakotan started a design firm in Minneapolis with his best friend.

***Update.
A big thanks to the AIGA SD folk for making the Wink boys feel at home...and to Spark Printing for the letterpress printing on the poster & post card.AIGA-SD-PosterAIGA-SDpostcard

Knocked Up

Ok, if you are reading this, then no doubt you've seen the summer block buster comedy, Knocked Up. As a fan of Judd Apatow, we were even more thrilled to see the design work we did for the 2006 MTV Movie Awards towards the end of the film. Look for the backdrops and logo graphics when Alison (Katherine Heigl) is interviewing people on the red carpet of the award show.

Wink Intern

Wink has a Summer intern all the way from sunny FL! Philip Lewis Clark will be with us until late summer, at which time he goes back to the Ringling School of Design. If you are in the neighborhood, feel free to say hello to our new bearded friend.

Wink in Time

Time

Wink is mentioned in Time magazine's Style & Design 100 issue, “A look at the people and ideas behind today's most influential designs.” And we're in good company too: Marcel Wanders, Marc Newson, Jonathan Ive, Timorous Beasties, Josef Frank, Michael Bierut, Yves Béhar, Kelly Wearstler, and Studio Job are all in there as well. So if you run across a copy, look for us in the packaging section.

We designed a lovely promotion for our friends at Friend & Johnson (how's that for a play on words?). Great people who represent great talent.

What, no recent updates?

Nothing like having a news page, with no recent updates, huh? We know there is no excuse for it. But in our defense, it's the classic adage "The cobbler's children who have no shoes". And while we are busy working away on other things, our poor website/weblog get's abandoned. Stay tuned!

Wink Internships

We here at Wink are still looking for just the right candidate for a possible internship. Please send your resume and samples (i.e. gifs, jpgs, pdfs, or links to your website) to info@wink-mpls.com with "Internship" in the title. And we will get back to you.

Jessica Alba & Wink

alba-loving-our-logo

It's true, Jessica Alba loves Wink! Well, we're not sure if that is totally true, but what is true is that Wink designed the 2006 MTV Movie Awards logo. Pretty sweet stuff! So be sure to tune in June 8th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and see the logo plastered over everything. Everyone out there send positive vibes, Richard is hoping that Natalie Portman will be holding an award with our logo on it. Keep those fingers crossed!
